Projects
Tommaso Farinetti explores new sonic territories through collaborations that expand his minimalist and improvisational style, driven by curiosity and artistic exchange.
Minimal Duo
Minimal Duo unites pianists Tommaso Farinetti and Serena Chillemi in an exploration of rare contemporary repertoire for two pianos, from the hypnotic patterns of Glass and Adams to the atmospheric sound worlds of David Lang and beyond.
Born from a chance encounter and a shared fascination for minimalist aesthetics, the duo blends Mediterranean warmth with analytical precision, creating performances where pulse, silence, and resonance become part of the storytelling. Their repertoire also extends to four-hands works on a single piano, expanding the intimacy and interplay of their musical dialogue. Currently, they are developing a program that combines live visuals with music, dedicated to the French repertoire — a journey revealing the subtle connections between musical Impressionism and minimalism. Since their debut at Munich’s Gasteig, they have performed across Europe, transforming each stage into a space of deep listening and subtle dialogue between two distinct yet perfectly interwoven musical voices.
Actual Ensemble
Actuál Ensemble was born from an idea by José Mobilia, in collaboration with Tommaso Farinetti and Rosario Gioeni — two passionate and versatile musicians from Sicily, Rome, and Munich.
The project thrives on flexibility, allowing its instrumentation and number of musicians to vary, and often collaborates with artists from diverse disciplines. Its mission: to bring the vibrancy and creativity of contemporary musical culture directly to the audience. For the centenary of Simeon Ten Holt (1923–2012), a leading figure of European minimalism, Actuál Ensemble presents a new version of his most celebrated composition, Canto Ostinato, arranged for piano, percussion, and live electronics. More a ritual than a concert, the work unfolds with meditative power, developing a clear harmonic and melodic identity while offering listeners a deeply personal experience. The boundary between stage and audience can dissolve: listeners are free to move, sit, or lie down, while the performers make spontaneous musical decisions in dialogue with the space and those present. Each performance becomes a one-of-a-kind event — inseparable from its location and the people who inhabit it.
